Caribbean experience brings business insights
I was reminded again of the importance of investing in ourselves and our businesses, during my recent trip to the Dominican Republic.
It was a working holiday, where I got to enjoy a break at a beautiful Caribbean resort while building my skills and capacity in high-level speaker training with some of the best in the business. I returned home both refreshed and charged up!
I realised that the trip also illustrated so much of what has worked for me in building a multiple six-figure business and the globetrotting lifestyle of my dreams.
I was invited to the one-time event in the Dominican Republic because of a mastermind I’m in. And that showed me the value of networking, of taking part in as many events and stages as possible and forming relationships at every event.
When the offer presented itself, I didn’t hesitate. I’ve found that being open to these learning experiences had always brought me benefits far beyond anything I expected.
I also chose to invest in the premium training programme at this event and I believe I got my money’s worth on the first day. Frankly, I expect to see my investment returned to me 10 times over before the end of the year. I cannot emphasise enough the importance, as an entrepreneur, of continually investing in ourselves and our businesses.
I reconnected with people at this event and also met some of the most amazing entrepreneurs I’ve ever met. I look forward to seeing what kind of interesting and mutually profitable synergies will result from these relationships.
Everything we do, every choice we make, has meaning and can have impact.
I think of the first event I attended in the coaching industry, back in 2015. At that stage in my life and business it was a huge deal for me to travel to Orlando Florida, with basically nothing but dreams in my pocket.
But I wanted my business to be successful so bad - can you relate? I also knew I needed a lot of help because this was all new to me.
And oh, being in that room with more than 800 people jumping around and lights flashing, I was rapt – I sat in the front row with my notebook and took down every idea and strategy the speakers offered.
It was incredibly inspiring and I can still feel the fire of that experience. But how to go from fired up to financial freedom?
I remember in Orlando when it was time to make the decision: I could either 1) take my notes and go home to work through them and hope for the best, or 2) go home as a member of the follow-up programme they offered.
I didn’t have much, but I had enough to get me into the programme. This was the question that helped me decide: How much are your dreams worth, Moira?
And all I could think was that if I can turn this deposit into a successful business, this will be the best decision I ever made. So I signed up. Twelve months later, after following the framework I received through the programme, I was invited on to a panel in Las Vegas to share my success!
I’ve never looked back and I am still going strong, learning all the time, and helping others make a clear plan to make their dreams come true.
If your dreams for your business and life are important enough, you will find a way.

It’s clear that one of my ‘whys’ for being a solo, remote entrepreneur, for wanting to continue to evolve and grow my business, is to be able to travel anywhere, anytime I want.
Do you know your ‘whys’? Your reasons for doing what you do will inspire you to take the actions you need to take.
Why do you want your life to look different than it does now? Why do you want to be a business owner? Why do you want to be a solo entrepreneur? Why do you want to build your business? Why do you want it to grow into a multiple six-figure or more empire? Why do you want your business to transform people’s lives? Why do you want to build a business of impact? Why do you want a lifestyle of freedom and abundance?
When you can identify your ‘whys’, they can serve as an endless supply of fuel to power you through the obstacles and detours you may experience. The work is not easy, but it doesn’t have to be difficult.
And when you are driven by a deep understanding of your core personal and work values – the values where your ‘whys’ are rooted – that gives you a higher purpose and sense of fulfilment when you achieve your aims.
It’s that understanding that will make the hard work of building your destiny-driven business of impact, abundance and freedom appear that much easier.
Whenever I’m heading into a new training, workshop, conference, coaching or group session, I never know everything that awaits me. What doors are waiting for me to open?
We always have something to learn, and we always have new ways to grow.
