Where do you want to go?
This past month on social media I have been asking people about travel. What has been your most memorable travel experience so far this year? Is travelling on your mind for 2023? Where are you going? What’s on the list?
The responses have been amazing.
People responded by naming places around the world, places they’ve visited or plan to visit. Travelling is definitely on a lot of people’s minds. It makes sense, with the limits on travel that we’ve all experienced these past couple of years. Now, the brakes are off!
And if you follow me here, or on Facebook or Instagram, you know that travel is never far from my mind. I have used speaking to grow my business to multiple six figures and achieve the globetrotting lifestyle of my dreams.
This year was no exception. When I think back on 2022, I think of travel.
In 2022 I visited Marrakesh, Ibiza, the Dominican Republic, Valencia, Edinburgh, and Paris. I’ve also spoken on virtual international stages this year that brought me to people in many more countries, but there’s nothing like touching down in a place, meeting people, and immersing yourself in a different culture.
The year began with my trip to Paris, a city that has a special place in my heart. I was in Paris seven years ago, taking some “me time” from my job in London, when I decided to return home to Ireland and test myself as an entrepreneur. For that, and for so many other reasons, Paris will always be special to me.
Where were you when you made that life-changing decision to see where your potential could take you?
Most recently, I was in Morocco on a retreat with an incredible group of clients who travelled from Germany, India, Australia, London, Mexico and Spain to take part. It was a gift, and an unforgettable experience.
I saw talented, vibrant entrepreneurs challenge themselves to uplevel and grow to heights they hadn’t thought possible. I will be forever grateful for that experience.
And they were able to engage in my game-changing training in the most incredible setting, in magical Marrakech. I kept hearing everyone talking about how much they loved the sights and smells and flavours of this beautiful place. And oh, the exquisite food!
All that, and we still made time for cocktails by the pool.
That’s the freedom you find when you build a business that gives you the lifestyle of your dreams.
In September I took a wee holiday in Ibiza, which has always been my favourite place for an impromptu sun holiday. I remember my first time there, back in 2015, when I stayed in a super cheap hotel but dreamed of returning to stay at one of the beautiful, sumptuous hotels I saw on the coast, because I dreamed that I would have a business that would afford me that luxury.
And this year, that’s exactly what I did. I’ll never forget that determined younger woman dreamer and the decisions she made that brought me to this place.
I’ve said this before: It’s our dreams that get us where we want to go. Let’s always dream big.
In August I went to the Dominican Republic, after being invited through a mastermind I’m in. I was so grateful to have had this opportunity for very high-level speaker training. And my investment in a premium training programme was worth it, as it always is.
I’m not exaggerating when I say that I have received that investment back 10 times by the end of the year.
That reminded me that everything we do means something. My involvement in the mastermind got me that invitation. My training and my years of speaking on real and virtual stages, and networking at every event I attend, got me to that mastermind.
In May I held a retreat for another group of amazing clients in Valencia, Spain. I first went to Valencia last year when I was invited to speak at a global travel conference, and I loved it. I knew then that I wanted to come back.
Clients joined me from the United States – Florida and Los Angeles – India, France, Germany, Spain and the UK. We spent a week on business and lifestyle mapping, and everyone went home with a new energy and game plan for growing their business beyond their dreams. Of course, in the home of paella and aqua de Valencia, we made time to treat ourselves, too.
When I look back at 2022, it was just a great, great time, and a wonderful adventure…
